Schedule for the Week Ending April 19, 1913

Sunday April 13 1 Samuel 7, 8 Monday " 14 " 9, 10 Tuesday " 15 " 11, 12 Wednesday " 16 " 13, 14 Thursday " 17 " 15, 16 Friday " 18 " 17, 18 Sabbath " 19 Psalms 22, 23

Our readings lie within 1 Samuel, chapters 7-18, inclusive. They give us the choosing of a king, Saul; the death of Samuel; the waning of the house of Saul and the calling of David. Chapter 15 is an awful lesson on the sin of witchcraft, and gives to us the oft-quoted scripture, “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” The Sabbath reading is Psalms 22 and 23. Psalm 22 is preeminently prophetic of our Lord in His humiliation; and 23 is the shepherd psalm, the most familiar of them all.
