Mother’s Fading Years

Mother’s face has not the light It had in other days, Tho’ still there is much to love, And there is much to praise.
The rose has faded from her cheek, There’s not a tint left now, And there’s a sorrowful, care-worn sign Upon her wrinkled brow.
Her jetty hair is streaked with gray, Her eyes are often dim with tears. Her joys in this old world are past, She’s fading with the years.
Beautiful sight — to see her face, Yet changed, is wondrous fair. It is always to me like an angel, With some sweet message to bear. M. OVERTON.
