A Cheerful Heart

WRITE on your day-book, on your ledger, on your money-safe, “Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Do not worry about notes that are far from due. Do not pile up on your counting-desk the financial anxieties of the next twenty years. Melancholy is the owl that is perched in many a Christian soul. The good times, if we will but believe it, are now; the better times are not backward—but beyond. We believe, as in the past, so in the future, the world will grow better and better. By-and-by the world and all that is therein shall pass away, but in the new heavens and the earth, righteousness, only righteousness shall dwell; and cheerfulness and growth will ever mark the progress of the soul.—Talmage.
