A Mother's Lost Opportunity

A BOY of seventeen came to his mother's room one night and said, “Mother, I have been going to the special meetings in the Central Church, and have about decided to be a Christian, if you will go with me to-night.”
“I have an engagement.”
“To my shame,” said the mother, “he found out what the engagement was. It was a euchre party. I kept my engagement, but I lost my boy. He has not been in a church for a year. My prayers have been of no avail, and I am broken-hearted.”—Selected.
