Prayer and Conduct

It is said that to live well we must pray well. All true. The reverse is true also, that to pray well we must live well. When life is correct; when the walk is thoroughly conscientious and upright; when the speech savoreth of the things that profit and elevate, then it is not difficult to pray. Unbecoming conduct makes a sluggish heart, and words unfitly spoken are a weight upon the pinions of the soul. No preparation for a prayer-meeting is so good as work done for the Master.—Sel.
