Coal and Human Life.

In an article in the June Outlook, entitled, “The Cost of Coal in Human Life,” occur the following words:
“From first to last our coal production has cost us more in loss of life than the Civil War, and, unlike the heroic men who dyed the fields of battle with their blood, these hardy soldiers of industry die in the forefront of a nation’s peaceful battle, victims of a ghastly tragedy, and their only reward is a place in some potter’s field, or its equivalent.”
