Labor Questions.—

At the convention of the anthracite coal miners, on the 28th ult., the agreement made by their representatives in conference with the mine owners was approved by unanimous vote, and on the 29th it was signed. The term of it is three years. It is identical with the agreement which expired on March 31, except that certain provisions have been added.—— The strike of employees in the carrying trade on the Great Lakes is now in force, and it involves about 30,000 men. The controversy began with the refusal of the marine engineers to sign contracts in which there was an open-shop clause.—— In Pittsburg, the threatened strike of the street-railroad employees has been averted. The demand for higher pay was withdrawn, and the company will make a more satisfactory arrangement of work hours.—— Carpenters, bricklayers, and painters in Montana are on strike for an increase of wages.— The Independent.
