Christ the Pilot

The position of the church in this present world may be likened to the boat full of disciples in the night storm, with the Master praying for them on the mountain-top, and finally coming to their rescue, walking on the sea, and piloting them quickly to the other shore. Often since the Master ascended on high, has the struggling church seemed to be forsaken and alone, but Jesus is on the mount praying for her. She has passed through many a dark watch, and soon He will come to her rescue. Above the crash of the elements when the world is going to wreck will be heard the voice of the Master speaking peace to His storm-tossed children. The church, like her Master, must be bruised and buffeted by the storms of Satanic wrath on the dark waters of this world, if she would share with Him in the victory in the world to come. The bruising of the Seed of the woman precedes the fulfilment of the promise that He shall bruise the serpent’s head.
