Chinese Lily Bulbs

MANY who start bulbs of the Chinese lily in water are disappointed that they do not bloom. This is probably because the bulbs have already bloomed once in water. The Chinese tell us that if they are planted in the ground the first time, they will always bloom yearly. If they are planted in the ground after blooming once in water, they will come up every year, but will not bloom until the end of the fifth year, but after that they will bloom every year. It is wise, therefore, in buying bulbs of the Chinese lily, to ascertain the date of the last blooming and whether it was in water or in soil.
