The Soldier’s Prayer

By Max Hill

The bravest soldier of the cross Shirks not the fray of battle din; For tho to-day he suffer loss, The cause of right will some day win.
He fears no earthly foe to meet, Nor prison-bars with all their gloom; His soul will never know defeat, E’en tho his prison be his tomb.
But while the Master gives him breath, He waits to hear his Leader’s call; His prayer is not, Keep me from death, But, Let me in the battle fall.
MAX HILL.
