American Influence

The noted journalist, Wm. T. Stead, is quoted as saying that “nothing surprises me more in talking to the average educated American than his ignorance of the extent to which American ideas are transforming the world.” And then he names several examples of this in Bulgaria, in Turkey, in Rome; and he declares in conclusion that “Europe must be Americanized or Europe is lost.” But America will not save the world. The very life of God must come into all the nations, or all of them are lost. If America would hold to her original ideas she would be indeed a blessing to the world. The sad fact is that she is tending toward the Dark Ages.
