Life and Immortality

IMMORTALITY is not life nor is it eternal life; rather it is the result of eternal life perfected into character. Originally when man was in harmony with God’s eternal law he possessed eternal life. By transgressing or perverting that law he perverted the channel of God’s life, consequently perverted the life in Him. Man does not therefore possess life of himself. When, however, he fully yields to God and comes into harmonious relationship with his Maker, subject wholly to the eternal law of God, through Christ, by that very faith in the Lord Jesus he becomes possessed of eternal life. That eternal life he holds by faith. It will be made absolute when character is perfected. In other words God gives the power of His endless life to the believer in order that the believer may win immortality.
