Steel Trust Cuts Workers’ Pay

It was announced about the middle of March that for the first time since its origin in 1901 the billion-dollar steel trust makes a cut in the pay of its workers, ranging from fifteen per cent to twenty per cent, and embracing every boy and man in the service except only the highly paid executive heads. The wage-earning army numbers more than 240,000. This will go into effect April 15. The public is left to guess whether the reduction is based solely on business conditions or is the outcome of some political plan.
