Bibles Used for Presidential Oaths

The Bible upon which President Taft took his oath of office was one used in the Supreme Court. Mr. Cleveland used for his first term a small Bible given to him when he was a boy; for his last term he used one given by his wife. Mr. McKinley took oath on an extraordinarily large family Bible bound in heavy Morocco trimmed in gold, given to him by the negro bishops. When Vice-president Arthur became President it was found necessary to send in great haste up-town for a Book. Since that time a Bible has been kept in an available place.
