The Whitla Kidnapping

Willie Whitla, whose kidnapping was noticed last week, has been found. He was restored to his father on the payment of ten thousand dollars ransom, under promise not to prosecute until opportunity was given to get away. The father and mother were willing to do anything to have their child restored to them. The boy remembers but little. He was drug-dazed when returned to his father, and probably has been kept so more or less during the time that he has been away. We sympathize with parents who would thus lose their little ones, and yet, after all, how much more important it is that our children should be saved to all eternity, and kept from the awful evils that there are in the world. A whole state is stirred to rescue one boy from temporal captivity, and it is well, but how much more they ought to be stirred to rescue them from the sink-holes of iniquity that are yawning on every side to devour them. The kidnappers were caught March 24.
