Mount Wilson Observatory Lens Fails

It is of interest in the scientific world to note that the great lens which was made for the solar observatory on Mount Wilson, Cal., has proved a failure. The working of the glass was nearly finished when it was learned that it contained flaws. It is an expensive matter of making a lens of that kind, and the makers are blamed because they did not ascertain its flaws before.
