Religious Tyranny in Boston

Here is an item furnished us by a Catholic paper which makes one almost question whether he lives in free America: “The Archbishop of Boston [O’Connell] has published a notice in his paper, the Pilot, in which he tells all Catholic newspapers under his jurisdiction to be good, or he will suppress them. His Grace of Boston announced when he came to that city that the Holy Ghost and he would govern that diocese. We hope the order of precedence will not be inverted as it was in Berlin.” That last remark is to the point. Where men use violent or tyrannical measures in religious matters they are sure to do that very thing.
