Harvard College’s New Stadium
The new stadium at Harvard College, patterned after the Coliseum at Rome, is said to be one of the finest structures in the world, and the largest steel and concrete building ever erected. When fully completed, it will have cost $230,000. It is built in the form of a horseshoe, and is larger than the famous Coliseum, being capable of seating 26,000 persons. It will cover three and one-half acres, contains 452 tons of square twisted steel, and 16,000 tons of Portland cement. Inasmuch as the classical education of the present day is based on the myths and philosophies of the heathen world, it is not to be wondered at that educational institutions should be patterning their buildings after those of the people whose ideas they teach as wisdom.
