ONE THING AND ANOTHER.

BY DANIEL W. SUMNER.
It is one thing to pose as a Christian, And have a good place with the flock; 'Tis another to stand strong for Jesus Firmly builded secure on the Rock.
It is one thing to talk of the Bible, Telling others what Jesus has said; 'Tis another to stand by its precepts, And feast on the life-giving bread.
It is one thing to live in fine houses, And have all that heart can conceive; 'Tis another to give to the needy, And their sufferings and sorrows relieve.
It is one thing to look for the Saviour, With heart full of yearning desire; Quite another to seek our own pleasure, And heap up our earth-treasures higher.
O cease from the strife of self-serving; Learn to love and serve Jesus the King; Then one day you may join in the anthems That will make heaven's wide arches ring.
