GOD'S GIFT.

BY BENJAMIN KEECH.
A LITTLE, curly head of yellow gold, A sweet, round face with kisses here and there, Two dancing eyes that laughing sunbeams hold, And rosebud lips more sweet than honey, rare.
These are the treasures, merged complete in one Dear little child that God has sent to me; And golden locks, reflecting His bright sun, And eyes that trust, both speak of Him to me.
All earthly pelf, once held so dear, may go; And care may touch me with its chastening rod. It matters not, so long as I may know The sacred sweetness of this gift from God.
I am content. Mere gold can never buy The blessed comfort of a baby's love, Nor worldly glory ever hope to vie With gifts like this, which come from heaven above.
