MISSIONARY OPPORTUNITY.

In addressing the late Presbyterian General Assembly at Buffalo, N. Y., Mr. De Velte, of Lahore, India, said: “The Punjab Mission is opportunity. The situation there is a new one, for now it is not the missionary who seeks the people, but the people who seek the missionary. The Governor-General has lately said that missionary Christianity is the most powerful influence in the Punjab, greater than that of the greatest Christian statesmen that have been given to that country.”
At the same assembly a letter was read from a Mrs. Larabee, of Madras, in which she told how sixty-nine children, under twelve years of age, had been sent home from church for lack of room, and after two hours of service she found them in a house holding a meeting by themselves.
Is it not time that Christians in this highly-favored land should come to look upon mission work, both at home and abroad, as a golden opportunity, a precious privilege, rather than as a burden, a cold duty, a stooping toward inferior creatures? Is it not an opportunity to be eagerly grasped, to be laborers together with God in the work of building up an everlasting kingdom?
