CONTROLLING THE INDUSTRIES.

A DESPATCH from the East states that “the Standard Oil Company has a scheme on foot to control every commodity of the country. It is stated that the company has started in to gain control of the wholesale grocery business of Ohio, and that the movement is to expand . . . until the Standard Oil Company will dominate all the necessities of life in all the states of the union.” Whether this despatch is authentic or not, it is certainly in harmony with the spirit of the times. The control of industries is the science of modern finance; and the above scheme is the culminating aim of the money-hungry trust. It is also the end toward which the spirit of treasure-hoarding is driving this age, as faithfully pointed out in the Word of God.
