God Alone Makes a Day Holy

To assume that man's resting on any day makes it holy, is to assume that man's acts are equal to God's. To assume that man can make anything at all holy or sacred, is to assume that the creature is equal to the Creator. To assume that man can change a commandment of God, even to the extent of a jot or tittle, is to assume a superiority over God. Yet all this is involved in the assumption that the first day of the week is the Sabbath, or Lord's day.
