FROM LOS ANGELES, CAL.

Following closely after the series of tent-meetings, the annual camp-meeting at Los Angeles was attended by a large number of the brethren from all over Southern California. Nearly two hundred family tents were pitched, and the services were of much interest. The last Sabbath the altar service was specially refreshing, about two hundred persons indicating a desire for renewed consecration or conversion by going forward to ask for the prayers of God's people.
Brethren W. B. White, president of the Pacific Union Conference; and A. S. Kellogg, president of the Northern California Conference, were among the visiting ministers. Others of the ministry present were Brethren Clarence Santee, president of the Southern California Conference, R. S. Owen, W. M. Healey, F. I. Richardson, W. W. Simpson, J. F. Ballenger, E. S. Ballenger, W. E. Knight, S. T. Hare, H. E. Giddings, A. W. H. Millard, A. J. Howard, Ralph Miller, S. Thurston, J. H. Adams, Elmer Adams, P. P. Adams and Charles Adams.
During the conference it was decided to purchase the Glendale Hotel for sanitarium purposes, and pledges were secured amounting to more than $5,500, which constitutes the first payment. The property was acquired for $12,500 on favorable terms, and is exceptionally cheap at that price. It is said that the building alone cost $40,000, and the site comprises five acres of fine land in the midst of one of the best foot-hill towns contiguous to Los Angeles.
At the conclusion of the tent-meetings, Brother W. W. Simpson baptized twenty-six candidates at one time, and at the close of the camp-meeting Brother W. M. Healey baptized thirty-four more. These, with five previously baptized by Elder J. H. Adams, constitute the first-fruits of the harvest just undertaken in Southern California. Others are awaiting baptism, and the churches have been strengthened by the tent effort.
It is intended to pitch the large camp-meeting tent again immediately in the business district of Los Angeles, where the message will be proclaimed by Brethren W. W. Simpson and F. I. Richardson alternately, from night to night. Great interest was awakened by the series of sermons by Brother Simpson on prophetic subjects, and it is desired to extend the work as rapidly as possible. At the conclusion of the downtown meetings, it is intended to take the tent to two or three other locations in the residence districts of the city, where others may be made acquainted with the truths of Scripture.
