The Nation’s Strong-Drink Bill in 1903

The strong-drink bill of the United States for the year 1903, according to the American Grocer was $1,451,633,379, an average of $62 for each individual. This average is twice as large as that of twenty-three years ago. And no statistics can really give the total amount of liquors manufactured and sold, for large quantities are made and disposed of clandestinely, of which no official account can be rendered.
