HIGHER GROUND.

BY LLEWELLYN A. MORRISON.
“The Master is come, and calleth for thee.”—Martha of Bethany.
MASTER, call me! kindly call me— I am still afar from Thee; Evil and despair enthral me— Loose the bonds and set me free; Liberate from sin’s dominion; Send me freedom from above; Be my Comfort and Companion; Draw me by the cords of love.

REFRAIN:—

Call me, Saviour! Call me near Thee! Bid my joy and peace abound! Speak to me and I shall hear thee; Call me up to higher ground.
Master, call me unto labor, Each glad morning, in Thy name! Every mortal is my neighbor; Send me forth with heart aflame, For the souls of men aspiring, Ransomed by redeeming blood; Greatly for a host desiring, Who shall come with songs to God.
Gently speak when burdens press me, ’Mid the conflict and the strife, And when sorrows sore distress me, In Thy Word abideth life. Every moment let the Spirit Be my guide, the journey through; Sanctify, by Thine own merit, All I think or speak or do.
Call me, Master! I’ll be waiting For Thy summoning to come Where the truth needs no translating, In the blessed, heavenly home; There shall I Thy grace assever, All Thy ministry adore, Dwell within Thy courts forever, Laud and praise Thee evermore.
