Chautauqua Items

Chautauqua Items.—“Graft” has become such a prominent factor in political and commercial life, that one of our great educational institutions deems it necessary to consider it. Accordingly, in the 1904 program at Chautauqua, New York, one of the special weeks is set aside for the consideration of “Graft.” Four addresses upon it will be given: “Graft” in Education, in Labor, in Business, and in Politics. Inspector Hughes, of Toronto, will discuss the educational question; Mr. Ray Stannard Baker, of McClure’s Magazine, the labor side of the problem. Dr. J. M. Buckley will conduct his annual question box, and give three new lectures. This will make more than sixty he has prepared for Chautauqua. The SIGNS OF THE TIMES will be found at the Press Bureau on the Chautauqua grounds, during the special term of 1904.
