A Vain Help

A Vain Help.—Says a Protestant religious magazine: “A faith in a good mother now in heaven is one of the most effective conservators of all that is manly and true.” But that is sheer Roman Catholicism,—faith in a dead woman. Only “to him that is joined to the living there is hope.” Thus saith the Lord: “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.” “It is well to have faith in the God of a faithful mother; but a faith which does not center in God will come short of His glory.”
