True Faith Is Obedient and Submissive

True faith is obedient, submissive. That person who, with vivid imagination, fixes upon his own desires as God's will and then demands an answer to his prayer for what he desires, mistakes presumption for faith, and lays himself open to the delusions of the deceiver of souls. The chief petition in the prayer of Jesus in Gethsemane's trying hour was not, "Let this cup pass," but "not My will, but Thine be done." And so it ever will be the prayer of true faith.
