An “Argument” Well Refuted.

The Wholesalers’ and Retailers’ Review, an organ of the liquor dealers, gives us one of the so-called arguments against prohibition, the assertion that “Christ commended moderate drinking.” To this assumption the Pacific Ensign aptly replies as follows:—
“Christ commended moderate drinking,” did He? He gave the “cup” at the last supper, and said, “Take ye of it.” But that was a Passover supper, and Jews could not have been induced to use leavened bread or leavened wine at the Passover. Prohibitionists have no war against unleavened wine. The kind they fear makes “babblers,” it “biteth like a serpent.”
