Anti-Mormon

A society called the National Anti-Mormon Missionary Association has been incorporated under the laws of Ohio. Of its purpose the general secretary, John T. Bridwell, of McArthur, Ohio, says:—
The need of this work is emphasized by the Josephite effort to clear Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet, of the crime of polygamy. In the Arena, and more recently in the North American Review, Joseph Smith, son of the prophet, has presented the Josephite plea for acquittal. The Mormon prophet was a polygamist. The effort to clear him is a scheme to rehabilitate Mormonism before this generation and pave the way to a successful evangelistic crusade. The Josephites have carried their work so far as to demand the “correction” of school histories that tell the truth about Joseph. In some instances their demands have been complied with.
