British Expedition Against the Mad Mullah

In Somaliland.—The British expedition against the Mad Mullah will probably be discontinued. The serious loss encountered in the recent campaign has made the British Government fearful of disapproval on the part of the British public. The fanatical leader of the desert tribes has a force variously estimated at from 50,000 to 100,000 men, and has all the watering places in the desert in his possession. It is believed that to annihilate this force would require an expedition so expensive that the British public would not support the government in the undertaking.
