OLDEST MAN IN THE WORLD.

Prince Wolkonski, writing to the Svet (Vienna), quotes a most remarkable case of longevity in the village of Marewka, in the government of Smolensk. Sinip is the son of a serf and was born in May, 1775. He is therefore one hundred and twenty-eight years old. Sight and hearing have not failed him, and he is sufficiently active to be able to walk two versts to the village church, to do odd jobs in the farmyard, to weave sandals, and knit stockings. The old man, whose mother reached the respectable age of one hundred and twenty, can remember quite distinctly the days of the Empress Catherine II and the Napoleonic war.
