The Christian’s Warfare Against Satan

The great controversy in which we are engaged is not between us and men; it is between Christ and Satan. The true Christian is simply enlisted as a soldier under the banner of Christ. The tactics that the Commander employed must be the tactics of the rank and file. “We wrestle not with flesh and blood,” because He wrestled not with men. “Learn of Me,” He says, “for I am meek and lowly in heart.” And one who had learned of Him says: “The servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” 2 Tim. 2: 24–26.
