Keep Sweet and Cheerful

Keep sweet and cheerful whatever may come, whatever others do. The perverse actions of others ought not to affect our relation or our character. A writer of verse has recently said in Country Life in America:—
“Have you thought how, cheerily, day to day, The thankless air perfuming, Though often stripped of its blossoms gay, The garden keeps on blooming? How never it stops when its choicest rose From its very heart is ravished, But richer and fuller its buds unclose, And its incense sweet is lavished?”
And thus, dear soul, in God’s garden, give forth of your sweetness, and fruit, and foliage, and be happy in it all. Others may not know, or knowing, forget; but the great, good Father knows and never forgets. He will reward the faithful with still larger mission.
