Against the Utah Senator.

At the opening of the spring meeting of the Presbytery of Newark, N. J. on the 2nd inst., a communication was received from Rev. John J. Richardson, of Salt Lake City, urging action to deprive United States Senator Smoot of his seat in the Senate. The Presbytery is asked to use its influence with the New Jersey Senators to secure their protest against allowing the Utah Senator to retain his seat. Official church action is asked in the matter because Senator Smoot is an apostle of the Mormon Church, and is accused of being a polygamist. Official church action in political matters will soon be the order of the day.
