Increasing Prevalence of Cancer

The report of the registrar general for Ireland on the prevalence and distribution of cancer shows that there has been a steady increase in that country. In 1871 the number of deaths in Ireland from that disease was 32 per 100,000. It is now 65, showing that the disease is twice as prevalent as it was in 1871. Returns from the rest of the British Isles, from the countries of Europe, and from the United States also show a distinct increase in the number of deaths from that disease. Many English doctors are convinced that the eating of pig’s flesh in various forms is responsible for much of this.
