Faith and Works

There is great danger of forgetting obedience in talking about faith. Satan has done all in his power to set faith against works and works against faith. “Works or faith” has been the cry. It was formerly “works for salvation,” we are told; it is now “faith.” Others have cried, “Faith and works,” and have illustrated by the two oars of a boat; both must be used or the boat will turn around or drift back. But this is wrong. The only true cry is, “Faith, faith which works,” “faith which worketh by love.” No other faith is faith.
