Baseball and Sunday Concerts.

In Memphis a minister has agitated the question and carried it, of baseball games on Sundays outside of hours devoted to church service and the closing of saloons. But in Sacramento the clergymen, in the words of the Oakland Tribune, “view the open saloon with equanimity, but hold up their hands with horror at the idea of a band playing popular airs for public entertainment on Sunday. It is a good deal like gagging at a pill, and then swallowing the box.” But the simple fact is, if the moral view were normal, these political clergymen would discern that what is evil in itself one day is evil on all days. Is it love of right which moves to such agitation? or is it the worship of an unbiblical institution?
