In the West Indies

In the West Indies.—Another revolution has broken out in San Domingo. After considerable fighting, the city of San Domingo itself has been taken by the revolutionists. The garrison of Fort San Carlos has declared itself in favor of the revolutionists, and the inhabitants of near-by villages are helping to strengthen the revolution. Two of the three war-vessels of San Domingo are held by the rebels, and in the fighting with the government forces on land the latter have lost heavily. Both the minister of war and minister of foreign affairs, who had taken refuge at the United States consulate, have surrendered to the rebels.
