In the Balkans

In the Balkans.— The situation in the Balkan States, where so much disturbance was anticipated, and where a conflict between larger powers seemed possible, if not probable, has quieted down within the past two weeks, and there is a prospect now that the trouble will be averted for another year at least. Turkey continues to send more troops into the affected region. This doubtless accounts for the fact that so little news is now coming from those localities. Just what is being done there is matter for speculation. The troops will probably be kept there until Turkey’s purpose in sending them is accomplished, unless interference comes from outside.
