Was St. Patrick a Baptist?

A Baptist clergyman in Bergen, N. J., recently preached a sermon in support of a claim that St. Patrick was a Baptist. He avers that all the claim the Catholics have on Ireland's patron saint is that Rome canonized him. If this new idea should gain acceptance among Protestants to any considerable degree, a new and extended impetus would arise in the celebration of St. Patrick's Day—inasmuch as the holiday idea is becoming more and more popular.
