Where He Obtained It.

—In Ingersoll's lecture, “What Must I Do to Be Saved?” he gives utterance to these words:—
And I believe in the gospel of Liberty, in giving to others what we claim for ourselves. I believe there is room everywhere for thought, and the more liberty you give away, the more you will have. In Liberty extravagance is economy. Let us be just. Let us be generous to each other.
But where did he get this?—Consciously or unconsciously, directly or indirectly, he obtained it from the Christian religion. No other religion of the world ever taught true and perfect liberty. It is solely because of the influence of Christianity that infidels have liberty to blaspheme. They will wish sometime they had not abused it, but then they will be reaping the fruit of their own sowing. That which a man chooses in the seeding he must abide in the reaping.
