What Patrick Henry proclaimed as a political choice

is to every individual a moral alternative. He cried, “Give me liberty, or give me death!” Every individual is naturally a sinner, subject to death. “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23. “Sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:15. The sinner is a captive. Rom. 7:23; 2 Tim. 2:26. Jesus Christ came to set captives free. Isa. 61:1. So, in a moral sense, it is liberty or death with every one that is born into the world. Then why not seek for liberty, when it is freely offered to every one? John 3:16. “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” Ch. 8:36. Under the penalty of death is the natural condition; liberty through faith in Christ is the only alternative.
