Trusting God in Despair

It is amazing to note the suicides recorded in the daily press day after day. Many times the cause is domestic infelicity, sometimes it is lingering sickness, and oftentimes it is despair under the tyranny of unconquered sin. It is not wholly a cowardly thing on the part of those who have no hope. It requires not a little bravery to take a leap in the dark to what to them is the “unknown,” but to him who has belief in God, it is cowardly. God can and will bring good out of life to us, even tho that life seems unbearable. We may put pause to its term right on the very threshold of deliverance. It is better, if by our act circumstances can not be improved, to wait God’s time. If He does not alter the circumstances, He will strengthen us. “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” When darkness and despair settle around us with their black influences of evil is the time, above all others, to trust God.
