Why Not Set the Example?

Why Not Set the Example?—A millionaire publisher-editor of a prominent paper declares: “As a rule working men are underpaid. They receive less than professional men.” The thought necessarily intrudes itself: Why does not this gentleman pay equal wages to his union employees and his professional editors, artists, etc.? Surely there is no law to prevent him. Why wait to be compelled to do it by union-made law? It would be a great loss of personal popularity and glory to wait too long.
