Every Day.—

The only true way to make the New Year true and strong and happy is to make every day one such of the days of which we desire the New Year to be composed. We can not meet to-morrow’s needs to-day. We may not anticipate its troubles, its sorrows, its temptations. The only assurance we have of meeting them then is the assurance of present victory. It is the present which God gives. It is the present which we must use or abuse,—“now,” “to-day,” “if ye will hear His voice.” “Act, act in the living present.”
“Every day is a fresh beginning, Every morn is the day made new, Ye who are weary of sorrow and sinning, Here is a beautiful hope for you, A hope for me and a hope for you.”
