Galveston’s Recovery and Growth

That the city of Galveston, Texas, has risen out of her ruins is shown by the fact that her bank clearings for the past year have amounted to $372,238,800, and her shipping business to $260,837,000. Twenty-eight steamship lines now converge at that port. A great sea-wall is under construction which is expected to give Galveston protection against another inundation. Being the natural outlet and inlet to a great portion of the great Southwest, that city is destined to a rapid and steady growth. This we learn from the Galveston News.
