Five or more sets to single addresses,…… 15c “ ” Five to twenty sets to one address……12c “ ” Twenty-five or more sets to one address……10c “ ” It is better to send your orders through your regular local tract society, as then a careful record is kept of the entire business. If, however, you are so situated as to make this inconvenient, order direct from the SIGNS OF THE TIMES, Mountain View, Cal. Please remember that the denomination is earnestly striving to reach a cash basis, and, if at all consistent with your circumstances, the remittance should be sent with the order. This will save time and expense to all concerned. These specials will take the place of the regular weekly issues of the following dates, viz.: Nov. 2, 16, 23 and 30. It will be noticed that an interval of two weeks between the first and second of the series is given. This is so that those securing subscriptions may have the opportunity of working an extra week before the rest of the series is received. As the series is really a large special number divided into weekly sections, each reader should have the opportunity of studying each section. Therefore, all orders must be for complete sets. Our business manager has just spent several weeks in the field counseling with experienced workers, who suggest the following plans:— The use of this series as a means of securing yearly subscribers. This can be done in the following ways:— (a) Solicit a subscription for the set of four papers, delivering the same from week to week as they come, or having them sent direct from the publishing house, but at the close of the term inform the reader that the amount he has paid for the four papers will be applied on a yearly subscription if he desires to receive its weekly visits. (b) Solicit the subscription, as in the foregoing plan, but state in connection with the first paper that after they have read the four special numbers that the price of same will be applied on a yearly subscription. (c) Simply leave a copy of the first number of the series with a family, enclosing in same a written statement to the effect that there are four papers in the series—state the price, and that the solicitor will call with the second issue later, at which time he will invite them to subscribe for the series. In connection with this call, the effort for a yearly subscription may be made. As an encouragement to those who thus solicit for subscriptions the following rates will apply:— Two new yearly subscriptions ordered at one time, or one new name and one renewal … $2.50 Three new yearly subscriptions ordered at one time, or two new names and one renewal … $3.25 Four new yearly subscriptions ordered at one time, or three new names and one renewal … $4.00 A large number of house-wives, busy business men, young people, and even children will engage in the circulation of this paper from house to house as they have on all the special numbers issued heretofore. It is planned to have this work done more systematically than ever before, so that each person purchasing the first in the series may have the opportunity of receiving the rest. It is hoped that all our friends will keep this definitely in mind, so that no purchaser may be deprived of the privilege of carefully studying every phase of the Third Angel’s Message. It has been demonstrated over and over that the regular numbers of the SIGNS will sell readily on the streets. Certainly this number with its attractive cover design and interesting contents will sell readily in that way. Thousands of people have friends in various portions of the world to whom they would be very glad to send the truth containing the Third Angel’s Message, as it will be contained in this series. As will be noticed from the price list given elsewhere, the publishers will address, wrap and mail the whole series, where five or more sets are ordered, for only fifteen cents a set. As an Introduction for the Sale of “Object Lessons”
The third cover page of the special series will contain the story of the gift of “Object Lessons.” It will also give the illustrations of the various schools which have been helped by the work with this book. It will describe the volume briefly, and at the conclusion will state that the book may be secured from the party from whom the reader secures the paper. After a person has read the series, it will be very easy to approach them with the book itself, as they have seen it noticed in each paper they have examined. As a Means of Introducing Our Regular Books
The second cover page of the paper will be devoted to a description of some of our popular low-priced books. The fourth cover page will also be devoted to a similar list of publications. After an individual has read the series he will be far more willing to examine some of the books advertised than he would if it were not brought to his attention in this quiet way.
