Intemperance the Working Man’s Worst Foe

The worst foe the working man has is not the trust nor the labor-union bosses, tho both are bad enough; it is the demon of intemperance. Alcohol and tobacco sap his strength, stupefy his brain, impoverish his home, disgrace, and beggar, and many times destroy, his wife and children. Not all are intemperate, but the vast majority drink and smoke; two utterly needless things; two habits that freedom from would bring untold blessings.
